Four Holiday Styles You Can Wear All Winter Long

It happens every year. The rich holiday colors, luxurious fabrics, gowns covered in sequined embellishment, and sparkling separates hit the stores in all their glory. It couldn’t be more tempting to pick up another big, cozy red sweater, sparkling cocktail dress, or velveteen sheath as you daydream about the stunning entrance you’ll make to your company holiday party or downtown outing with friends.

Then you realize your holiday party lineup consists more of ugly sweater parties, business casual functions, and intimate family get-togethers. Perhaps it doesn’t actually make sense to buy that gorgeous cocktail dress for just one party, so what should you look for instead?

What pieces are most versatile for the season, including AFTER the holidays?

Today, I’ve pinpointed four styles that are perfect for the holidays AND after the holidays during the cold-weather season. I’ve detailed one print, texture, color, and accessory I recommend for the entire season that won’t leave you feeling guilty after spontaneously spending money during a Black Friday sale. ;)

Now without further ado, here’s four holiday styles you can wear all winter long:

#1: Print: Plaid

Plaid is ALL the rage right now, and as I witnessed during a recent Zara store opening event in Denver, it’s showing up in all the hottest separates including high-waisted ankle pants, boyfriend blazers, and long pencil skirts. But if the trendy just isn’t for you, never fear. Plaid is a classic that won’t go anywhere, so feel free to pick it up in a printed knit scarf, full-length pant, or legging and pair with your favorite oversized sweater.

#2: Texture: Tweed

Tweed is a classic cold-weather favorite, and if you’re looking for a way to add interest to an outfit with a texture that isn’t a knit during the holidays, amp up your look with a tweed jacket, skirt, or pant. I’ve seen tweed show up this year in dresses, blazers, and pencil skirt styles!

#3: Color: Maroon

Maroon is a gorgeous holiday color, but one you can easily wear during the entire cold-weather season. It’s one color I find myself recommending to clients again and again as most versatile and shows up frequently in stores in a variety of cardigan, puffer vest, colored denim, and top styles.

#4: Accessory: Pearls

Pearls are especially elegant during the holiday season, and for many, a nostalgic accessory to wear over a holiday dress or sweater. Pick up a single string of pearls (they don’t have to be real!) to add a classic element to an edgy embellished blouse or leather separate.

So there you have it! One print, texture, color, and accessory that looks lovely during the holidays AND after the holidays.
